The Mississippi State Fair closed yesterday in Jackson after a twelve day run with the best weather in years. Last year the fair was extended an extra day due to excessive fair. No rain this year leading to what may be a record crowd.I remember when the Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show, see picture, was the biggest event of the fall. We picked cotton to have money to spend there, and Wednesday was school day; we marched to the fair and spend most of the day there.
My step-father, Raymon Stovall, worked for Pure Oil which was located by the second entrance, and we always had a parking space and free admission.
