I read in this morning's Jackson paper the obituary of Mrs. Charles Smalling. Her husband, Chuck, was an All American football player at Stanford and coached at Ole Miss in the 30s; during the war, Chuck was a manager at the war plant in Prairie where Aunt Johnnie worked.
All my life, I've heard Aunt Johnnie talk about Chuck Smalling who she thought was the nicest and best looking man she had ever met. There are several pictures of him in her albums that I have.
