History of Plantersville United Methodist Church

According to Judy Borden's book, the Methodist church was organized in 1907 with seventeen charter members; the Rev. Jim Cunningham from Dallas Texas inspired them to unite.

The first church was built in 1908 on land donated by J. M. Towery. In 1909 the church had a membership of 31. By 1937 the membership had increased to 151.

In 1925 a brick veneer sanctuary was constructed with six Sunday School rooms. An annex financed by Mrs. Dora Grant in memory of her parents, Joel and Mary Towery was added.

The parsonage was built in 1957 and the first service in the present sanctuary was held in March of 1969.
